THE MUSIC WRITTEN IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS
The music composed in the concentration Camps is a page still little known of the Second World War and the Shoah.
In the Camps were deported great musicians and composers, who continued to play and compose, sometimes in secret, sometimes with the consent of the SS. The Nazis used the orchestras for their own entertainment but also to maintain order and calm during the appeals, the train arrivals, even on the way to the gas chambers, but ...

... for many women and men, music was first of all
un act of resistance to death, a way to survive.
THE MISSION OF FRANCESCO LOTORO
The monumental repertoire of music written in the Camps would have been largely lost without the work of Francesco Lotoro who, for more than 30 years, at his own expense and with great economic efforts, managed to recover thousands of musical testimonies, rummaging in the archives, interviewing the survivors and anyone who may have had anything to do with their journals, keep scores miraculously survived or simply witnessed events related to them.

THE SEARCH OF FRANCESCO?
Supporting Francesco financially
will allow him to travel
and save more music

In the last 30 years Francesco Lotoro has personally supported all the costs of his travels around the world.
But the search is not over yet: more funds are needed for travel expenses,
for transcribing, cataloging and recording scores.
To support Francesco Lotoro, in 2014 was born the
Foundation "Institute of Concentrationary Music Literature".
The ILMC Foundation appeals to institutions, foundations and private sponsors, interested in helping Lotoro before it is too late and even the last survivors of the Camps, their family and friends - the primary sources of this precious mission - disappear.
